Treking on horseback is one of my favourite things to do, whether it is with a guide or with family. Either way, there are certain things that need to be considered before, during and after a ride out on the trail.

Horsenation.com made a list of things a rider should do to ensure a safe ride for horse and rider. Yes, some of these things are glaringly obvious but we could all use a reminder sometimes! (For the full detailed list visit the link above!)

Protect your head.

Ride with a buddy.

Check your tack.

Warm up your horse.

Protect your horse’s feet.

Be seen.

Keep your eye on the horizon.

Carry your phone.

ID your horse.
